Spotlight bride: Agartha wearing French netting Bridal Veil

I love getting little notes from my brides. Agartha was a wonderful bride who sent a note with some photos and looked so chic and elegant I had to share. She Wore a longer French netting Angle with a below the mouth length, she pulled the veil up to create some fullness and wore a full detachable ostrich feather fascinator with custom touches. Here are some photos and her note, I hope you are inspired.

Hi Dorene,

I wanted to connect with you to thank you for being a part of my special day and making me my beautiful veil.  I received rave reviews on the veil and everyone absolutely loved it!  I ended up wearing it a bit higher on my face than I had originally planned and it looked beautiful.  I attached some pictures here for you to check out how it all turned out.

Thanks,

Agartha

Week two: before and after with KPTV broadcast journalist Sophie Soong

Week two of our Before and After project. This project is a collaboration with Make-up artist Madeline Roosevelt, Unveiled Bridal Designs’ and Russell Court Studios’ photographer/designer Dorene Vandermeer. The vision Madeline has for this project is to show before and after photographs of several subjects, allowing you to see their transformation process without losing each model’s unique features. She believes that you are enough, why hide who you are?

Madeline’s style of hair and make-up is to put emphasis on each person’s attributes and highlight them instead of masking them under a layer of make-up.  Dorene Vandermeer enjoys taking honest photos that bring out the subject’s personality without a lot of photo enhancing.  Dorene feels by adding heavy photo enhancing tricks you can loose who you really are, you are enough! Simply pretty, simply you is the theme for this project.

Together Madeline and Dorene are teaming up to showcase for you, models and everyday ladies who are simply pretty.

Our first model is American Broadcast Journalist for KPTV channel 12 Sophie Soong. Her radiant smile and amazing character come through as Madeline has captured her fresh and warm personality with subtle and soft make-up and hair. She is so pretty, before and after. She is wearing the beautiful Pallion Fascinator for this Simply Pretty, Simply You shoot.

Spotlight Bride Anna from Greece

Anna came to Unveiled Bridal Designs to look for a French netting veil for her Christian Orthodox traditional wedding in Greece. The design decided on was a lovely Bandeau with a Bethany style fascinator. It fit her perfectly and she was able to wear it during the wedding and into the night. Enjoy all the photos she sent. The photos on the streets of Greece are fun. She is a cutie!

Some moments just make me tear up, this one does for some reason.

Now that is a church!

Look at the guy on the bus staring at them (he is looking out the window on the left), such a real moment!

Having fun on the bus:)

Vintage Inspired Veils: behind the scenes of Craftsy set

I am so excited to share with you that I am an instructor on Sympos Inc.’s web-site Craftsy.com! This is a huge honor to be chosen as one of their instructors and it was a wonderful experience. The fun began when the Crafsty film team flew to Portland from Denver the beginning of May to video me teaching the steps to create 4 veils, a fascinator and a garter.

They arrived at my shop in a rental van that was full of huge cases. I got nervous but Rachel and James gave me huge smiles and I felt alot better! The team began to unpack the cases and I was shocked to see what popped out:  jips, cameras, huge lights and lots of wires. I got nervous again, but Rachel, James and Will gave me big smiles and assured all would be great.

After three days of filming I was sad to see the team leave. I grew attached to my producer Rachel and camera man James (and Will too). They were amazing and so helpful.

The course has launched on Craftsy.com. See a peak at the trailor and you can even see a few mintues of my introduction, my fascinator class, and much more.

Thank you to the Craftsy team for making me feel at peace and totally myself while filming what I LOVE to do!

Here are some behind the scene snap shots of the video!

One of the cameras, see why I go nervous!

Bernia sewing machines were used for the video and they are amazing, very quiet.

Unveiled Bridal Designs spotlight bride Olga

Olga was such a sweet bride, knew what she wanted and was so easy to work with. I loved her theme and enjoy the rustic elements she used in her wedding. You will be inspired I am sure. She wore the Angle French netting veil with Annie fascinator. Her elegant and effortless style gave her a look that was very timeless.

Lauren’s story: A Tale of two Birdcage Veils

Lauren came to me with only a month to go before her wedding. She was kind and wonderful to talk with. She had a bit of a problem. She purchased another veil markers veil that was called the Angle at a trunch show.  The veil did not fit and she was asking for my help. With a little back and forth and her wedding fastly approaching, I decide to bless Lauren with a veil and fascinator from our site as a gift. Her story tugged at my heart so much, I wanted her to have a happy ending. Here is a note from Lauren, telling her story.

A Tale of Two Birdcage Veils….

After purchasing a champagne lace dress with a vintage feel, I decided the only kind of veil for me was a birdcage.  I searched high and low for a store or website that sold them.  Unveiled Bridal Designs was by far the best site I found.  The site was elegant, the veils were customizable and the prices were fantastic.
I told my mother about the website but she insisted that “you cannot get something as important as your veil from a website.”  We went to a local bridal salon where a woman who makes veils was having a trunk show.  I tried on her birdcage veil, placed my order and was told it would take about a month to be done.  Imagine my surprise when less than a week later it was ready…
I picked up the veil and it was smushed into a small box.  The fabric was very stiff and the veil was sticking out in all directions.  For the next few weeks I tried steaming it, shaping it with pins, pulling it, stretching it…it would not budge.  I called the woman who I got the veil from and her solution was that “you need to use a lot of bobby pins to get it shaped the way you want.”  Since I was only wearing the veil for my ceremony, I did not want to stick a ton of bobby pins into my hair and risk ruining my updo.  Even after I explained this to her, she insisted bobby pins were the way to go.  She had already made her sale and had no interest in helping me.  What’s worse, it was clear that the veil had not been made correctly or with any care and I was stuck with it.

I looked back at Unveiled Bridal Designs and saw all these gorgeous brides with gorgeous veils that didn’t stick out in every direction.  I decided to email Dorene and asked her how many bobby pins her veil needs.  She promptly responded “one, maybe two.”  I told Dorene about my disaster of a veil and figured in her next email she would recommend one of hers to buy.  Instead, she asked for me to send a picture so she could instruct me on how fix the one I already had.  I could not believe I was getting such amazing customer service – and I wasn’t yet a customer!

I did what she said and took another picture.  It was a slight improvement, but Dorene and I both realized my veil could not be fixed and she helped me pick one of hers.  It arrived, carefully placed in a lovely hat box and was stunning.  It was easy to put in, easy to take out, and I got endless compliments on it.  Most importantly, it really went with the look I was going for on my wedding day and made me feel gorgeous.  Dorene was a delight to work with and is one of the most sincerely helpful people.  Ever.
When you are planning your wedding there are going to be a ton of headaches – what you wear on your head shouldn’t be one of them!

Spotlight bride Amy with a peacock themed wedding.

Amy wore the amazing Justine fascinator with Bling bobble and Angle French netting veil. Amy had an amazing colorful wedding with a peacock theme. I am sharing a letter she sent me, it is so sweet and shared a bit of her story. Enjoy!

Amy's peacock themed wedding Dorene,

Thank you again for the beauitful fascinator and veil. It was everything my hopes and dreams were made of for our vow renewal. I thought I would share with you some of our pictures from our “wedding”, they came out perfect…with your help! My husband and I actually got married on a beach in Jamaica in 2009, 2 weeks later he deployed to Iraq and was gone over a year. We knew we wanted the big grand experience of a “real wedding” so during his deployment I planned the wedding of our dreams. You see…the wedding in the Jamaica was wonderful but we were all alone, no family and no friends. It was such a wonderful but also stressful time. I planned our vow renewal just like our wedding would have taken place had the deployment not of come up so soon.

Amy's peacock themed wedding

The moment I found your website and saw your amazing work I knew I wanted it to be part of our special day. We had been through so much and for our vow renewal I wanted it to be the ultimate celebration. The birdcage veils you make are so beautiful that I could think of nothing else to wear but your designs. When we emailed and you came up with the amazing design you did for me, I was in tears!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to make our vow renewal what it was…and for the helping me look so great! I’ve never felt more beautiful in my entire life. The piece you made will surely be passed down to our children one day. It means the world to me, as do you (even though I barley know you)!
